Join us for a night of food, family, friends, and FUNdraising for YOUR county parks!
The Partners for Conservation Foundation is hosting a banquet on April 4 at Barn on the Ridge just outside of Burlington to raise funds for Des Moines County Conservation parks and programs. The event will include raffles, games, auctions, and a BBQ dinner. Raffle and auction items include all the gear you need to get outside such as bikes, kayaks, camping and cabin stays, and so much more.
Get your tickets online today as this event is likely to sell out. Your $40 ticket purchase covers your entry into the event and dinner.

Des Moines County Conservation is teaming up with Louisa County Conservation, Lee County Conservation, and Van Buren County Conservation for the 2024 Spring Hike A Park series! The next hike is scheduled at Leopold Recreation Area on April 11th from 5-6 PM. Participants should meet at the parking lot. The address to the park is 11816 Mill Dam Rd. Burlington, IA 52601.
These hikes are open to everyone and are completely free to join. There's no need to sign up; just come to the park prepared to hike between 1 to 4 miles. If you're interested in carpooling, give us a call at the nature center. Carpooling is free; we just need to know in advance! All the hikes will take place on Thursdays, though the times will vary.
Each hike will be led by experienced naturalists who will guide you through the park and answer any questions you might have. Dress appropriately for the weather—wear comfortable walking shoes, layers for cooler days, sun protection, and bring a water bottle. Join us for the annual Earth Day Community Cleanup Event! The day involves hundreds of community volunteers working together to Keep Burlington Beautiful.
Register at the Port between 8AM - 9AM to receive supplies and a site location for litter pick up. Return back to the Port after cleanup for door prizes and a light lunch (provided) beginning at 11AM.

Join Des Moines County Conservation for a captivating Wildflower Walk at Starr’s Cave on April 20th from 1:30-2:30 PM. Spring is the perfect time to witness the woodland trails at Starr’s Cave come alive with blooming spring ephemerals, the first flowers of early spring. Discover a variety of these fleeting beauties, including Hepatica, Spring Beauty, Dutchman’s Breeches, and Bloodroot.
Anyone is welcome, and there is no registration required. Participants can leave at any time. Meet at the shelter house next to the nature center for this hour-long program. Our naturalist will lead the walk, providing insights and answering any questions. Don’t miss this opportunity to explore the vibrant world of spring wildflowers at Starr’s Cave!
