Hunting Mentorship Program Kickoff Meeting
Date: March 20th
Time: 6:00 PM
Location: The Drake Restaurant, Burlington, IA
Join us for the kickoff of our Hunting Mentorship Program. This event is an opportunity to connect experienced hunters and anglers with those looking to learn more about hunting and fishing.
We are looking for both mentors and mentees:
Mentors – Experienced hunters and anglers willing to share their knowledge and help others develop their skills while ensuring safety.
Mentees – Individuals and families who want to learn more about hunting and fishing but need guidance to get started.
Mentors will work directly with mentees to create opportunities, coordinate schedules, and prioritize safety. Our community offers many outdoor opportunities, and this program is designed to help more people take advantage of them.
Dinner will be provided, courtesy of the Aldo Leopold Pheasants Forever Chapter. Please RSVP here so we can have an accurate meal count.

Hunter education is a mandatory program that is designed to introduce students to several life-long skills that are important to many different types of outdoor recreational opportunities. The course teaches students basic survival and first aid skills, water safety, wildlife identification, the basics of wildlife management, hunting laws and firearm/archery safety. Hunter education also stresses the importance of individual responsibility and outdoor ethics.
Iowa law requires that anyone born after January 1, 1972 must be certified in hunter education before they are eligible to purchase an Iowa hunting license.
To attend this field day, students must complete the online course work at https://www.hunter-ed.com/iowa/. Once you've completed the online portion, print off the field day voucher and bring it with you to class.
