Request for Proposals: Freelance Social Media Manager for Des Moines County Conservation
I. Project Overview:
Des Moines County Conservation seeks a qualified and experienced freelance social media manager to enhance the online presence of the department through engaging and informative content on Facebook and Instagram. The selected individual will be responsible for creating 1-4 posts per week, responding to follower messages, and ensuring the maintenance of brand standards.
This is a contracted position. This person is NOT an employee of Des Moines County or the Conservation Department.
II. Objectives:
- Increase social media engagement and reach for Des Moines County Conservation.
- Provide relevant and timely content to educate and engage the community.
- Enhance the overall aesthetics and consistency of the department's social media profiles.
- Foster positive interactions with followers by responding to messages and comments.
III. Key Responsibilities:
- Content Creation:
- Develop and create 1-4 posts per week for both Facebook and Instagram, including visuals, captions, and relevant hashtags.
- Tailor content to align with the department's goals and initiatives, showcasing events, educational content, parks, and natural resources.
- Community Engagement:
- Monitor and respond to follower messages, comments, and mentions in a timely and professional manner.
- Encourage community interaction and participation through thoughtful engagement.
- Brand Standards:
- Ensure that all content adheres to Des Moines County Conservation's brand guidelines, maintaining a consistent tone, style, and visual identity.
- Collaborate with the department to incorporate key messages and branding elements into social media content.
- Scheduling and Posting:
- Utilize scheduling tools to plan and organize posts, ensuring a consistent posting schedule.
- Monitor social media insights and adjust posting times and content based on audience engagement data.
IV. Reporting:
Provide monthly updates reviewing key performance metrics, such as engagement rates, follower growth, and the success of specific campaigns or posts.
V. Collaboration:
Collaborate with the Des Moines County Conservation team to stay informed about ongoing initiatives, events, and important updates.
VI. Duration:
The freelance social media manager will be engaged on an ongoing basis, with a review of performance and continuation discussion after an initial 90-day trial period.
VII. Qualifications:
- Proven experience in social media management, preferably in the conservation or environmental sector.
- Strong understanding of social media platforms, algorithms, and best practices.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with followers.
- Proficiency in graphic design tools and content creation software.
- Familiarity with scheduling and analytics tools for social media.
