'Tis the season at Starr's Cave! As winter settles in, our days may be shorter and the weather colder, but our spirits are as high as ever. A Look Back
Adventurous Trails and New Beginnings
We kicked off the season with an exciting adventure hike that introduced our new backpack rentals, enabling everyone to explore nature a little more comfortably.
Gratitude and Gatherings
Thanksgiving brought us together in appreciation for nature's wonders and the community that makes Starr's Cave special.
Engaging Young Minds
Our after-school program, PIECES, has been running consistently, offering valuable learning experiences every Tuesday and Wednesday, sprinkled with delightful Saturday field trips.
Expanding Our Horizons
A significant milestone was achieved as we acquired 19.4 acres adjacent to Hickory Bend Recreation Area. The ribbon-cutting ceremony marked a new chapter in our commitment to preserving and enriching these natural spaces.
Spotlight on Wildlife
We showcased Jules, the western fox snake, in our "Meet A Wild Animal" program, and the enthusiastic response even landed us on the front page of the Hawkeye Newspaper.
Strategic Planning for a Better Tomorrow
Our dedicated staff engaged in an all-day meeting, brainstorming ways to enhance our major annual events and elevate the experiences we offer to our community.
Celebrating with Cocoa and Conservation
National Hot Cocoa Day was a delightful celebration filled with warmth and conversation as a dozen nature enthusiasts gathered at Starr's Cave.
